🎬 Rocky Horror played to an empty theater for 54 weeks

In Portland Oregon a pesky pandemic was going to stop the 43 year streak of the showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
In college somehow I fell into the crowd that would go to the local showing of RHPS, so I went one time. I didn’t have props, and I hadn’t ever seen the movie, so it was all a new experience with me. At the end, I realized I had seen something truly amazing. The performers and the audience having a shared, happy, experience.
The closest I’ve come to this in the past 20 years was midnight showings of blockbuster movies. When you go to a show at midnight on a Thursday night, you are watching with the die-hard fans. Bruce Campbell shows up on the screen? Everyone goes crazy. Nowadays the studios have moved the midnight showings to 7pm, making the first showings more accessible, but losing their charm. I wouldn’t mind the 7pm showings if for the fact that they would still show a movie at midnight.
