💫 My favorite news from Star Wars Celebration 2022
By goz
The Star Wars Celebration 2022 finished up this past week in Anaheim, California. Star Wars Celebration is a change to celebrate all things Star Wars, including announcing a bunch of new stuff coming in the next year and a half.
Here’s a rundown of the things I’m most excited about, in order of my most excited to least excited.
Live action Ahsoka includes characters for Star Wars Rebels
Like most shows, Star Wars: Rebels takes a little while to find its footing, but once it does it becomes some very good Star Wars. Disney+ will be bringing Ahsoka to the screen, following Ahsoka along with Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper. I’m more excited about this than Mandolarian Season 3!
Season 2 of The Bad Batch
Season 2 of The Bad Batch will be coming to Disney+ this fall! Along with Star Wars Rebels, it’s an outstanding piece of Star Wars. From the trailer, it looks like Omega has grown up a little, and rag tag group of stormtroopers are sporting new armor. I can’t wait!
More Willow!
I don’t know what Willow has to do with Star Wars, but I guess anything that falls under the Lucasfilm umbrella gets shown at Star Wars Celebration.
We have to wait until February 2023 for the next season of Mandalorian
Say what you will about the downfall of broadcast TV, the one thing it did have going for it was that we didn’t have to wait almost two years between seasons of shows. Some may say Boba Fett was season 2.5 of The Mandalorian, but I don’t.
Other shows
I don’t know enough about the other shows to form an opinion, but I do worry about diluting the depth of Star Wars. Maybe they should concentrate on putting out seasons of current shows quicker instead of more shows? We don’t know if there will be a season 2 of Obi-wan, but if there is, it probably won’t be here until 2024 at this rate.
