🌌 Another Kelvin timeline Star Trek, John Williams, and downloadable gaming - This Geek in Review for 2022-02-25
By goz
It’s time to get the gang back together in the Kelvin timeline. The major Star Trek actors and actresses from the previous 3 Star Trek movies are returning for a fourth film. Unfortunately, the quality of each subsequent Star Trek in this timeline has gotten worse and worse. The first one was pretty good, with a cool take on time travel. The second? I rage watch Into Darkness because I like to complain about things. The third one? The less said about that one the better.
I’m afraid the fourth one will be of Wing Commander quality. At least that movie showed a Star Wars trailer before it started.
Don’t worry though, I’ll be there on opening night.
Legend John Williams is Legendary
The man is 90, but he’s still coming back for more! John Williams is writing music for the new Obi Wan TV series and I’m very excited. It seems like music has taken a back seat for a lot of TV and movies lately, so I’m excited to hear what Mr. Williams has in store.
No discs for you!
A friend recently gave me an Xbox One, so I now have a sort of current game system. Because I don’t have any Xbox One games (and the 360 version of Sneak King won’t run on the One), I signed up for Microsoft’s Game Pass. For $10/month, I can download and play a ton of games. It’s really nice, although at the 35Mbps of my internet connection games can take awhile to download.
I’m already in the no-disc world with the One, although it won’t be for long. I’ll be hitting our used game store soon to see what older games I can pick up. And that’s what I’m going to miss the most once consoles lose their optical drives.
